First trip to Ec. in 1982 where I married my HS sweetheart, a Quitena. Been going back every year since. We have a small farm in the Sierras north of Quito and are in the process of the move now. Its been a hot summer with many days over 100 and I just about had it. Especially after I spent a month on the farm this summer. Nearly died when I stepped out of Hartsfield. I will definitely not miss the summers here!
I love reading the posts of folks who just moved there. It reminds me of what I forget after all these years. Sometimes folks "white wash" it a little but Ec. is still a great place! I hate cities so I stay away from Quito if possible. Thanks for the blog, its a great one!Sapa Yncahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15135716212420124079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1761596656009288835.post-33021196817917703242010-08-17T10:39:19.858-03:002010-08-17T10:39:19.858-03:00You're from GA and now SC? Yes its cold and rainy sometimes for long periods of time and this is the Sierras. But after a long SC summer...I really need it!
But let that sun come out and the temps change quickly. Ec has four seasons each day...and one of them is winter! The temp at this moment in our apartment is 60 degrees F., which feels damn cold to me. There has been a stalled weather pattern for days on end with chilly temps and no sun. Seems like we've moved to Seattle instead of Cuenca. Long-time residents tell me they've never experienced weather like this. I'm chalking it all up to "global cooling."Edd Statonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10087303161307567127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1761596656009288835.post-40409628111460734602010-08-15T08:32:33.990-03:002010-08-15T08:32:33.990-03:00My comment has nothing to do with your article, so...My comment has nothing to do with your article, sorry for that.
On weather.com I am monitoring the weather in Cuenca, and the forecast for Sunday to Wednesday it predicts as temperatures (day and night): 19/8; 20/9; 19/6; and 19/4. The Cuenca newspapers predict: 16/4; 17/4; 15/4 and 16/2.
You can see a difference of 3 or 4 degrees C. What is the real temperature? For the last week, it was the same, weather.com being more optimistic than the local newspapers.
I am thinking to sue either (or both) to cover my moving expenses to Cuenca :-)
Nicholasindelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00359353583509500358noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1761596656009288835.post-20504367232643244172010-08-14T19:35:14.552-03:002010-08-14T19:35:14.552-03:00WOW...Those guinea pigs sound delicious.
